How To Track Your iPad/iPhone/iPod’s Location?

GadgetTrak provides proven theft recovery solutions for a wide range of portable devices including cell phones, PDAs, removable media devices iPodS. ActiveTrak has announced the release of GadgetTrak 2.5, a new version of its theft recovery software for iOS. The update is available for download from the App Store, and the app costs 99 cents. The GadgetTrak iOS application has been updated and released in to the iTunes Store and allows you to track the location of your iOS devices. When your device is missing, log into your account using any web browser and enable tracking immediately. GadgetTrak will spring to life and generate location reports, including map points, longitude & latitude and IP address to help you pinpoint your lost device. It can even snap photos of the thief!
For extra security, enable the "Deleting Apps" restriction in Settings App->General->Restrictions. This will keep the thief from deleting GadgetTrak (and any other apps).

If your device has GPS capability it will be used by GadgetTrak to get the most accurate location possible. Even without GPS, GadgetTrak can use cell towers and/or advanced Wi-Fi positioning technology to pinpoint the location of your device usually within a few meters.

For those devoted to Apple products, tools like MacTracker will help you divine specific product release date patterns and pricing history. Unfortunately, PC users don't have anything as useful.

Still, you can also start tracking company announcements and specific release dates yourself by going back and reading gadget sites and company press releases. Once you have a year or two's worth of data, spreadsheet those numbers to look for patterns. Macrumors has already done most of the heavy lifting for Apple upgraders. But you can also set up your own calendar alerts if you're feeling ambitious. It may seem like overkill, but staying one step ahead of new product announcements is paramount to earning top dollar for used gear.

Also, keep in mind that the end of November through the beginning of January (that'd be right now…) is the absolute worst time to sell your gear. With Black Friday/Cyber Monday/X-Mas/CES in the mix, we're right in the middle of new product announcement season. This is also accompanied by heavy discounts from retailers looking to clear inventory. Wait at least until mid-January before you even think of putting your gear on the market.

Save Everything
Resist the urge to toss out receipts, boxes, warranty cards, and other seemingly useless pieces of paper and cardboard. Nothing is more reassuring to a new owner than receiving a gadget that's neatly packaged with all its original materials. Also keeping all your materials will assure potential buyers that you're not a crook. You not only buy yourself a ton of pricing leverage when you save everything, but things like a receipt will also facilitate the transferal of warranty and registration info. If you have unused space in a closet or garage, start constructing your box tower now. Grab a Rubbermaid bin or two for storing everything else. If space is at a minimum, gadget boxes also made into makeshift bedside tables, desks or bookshelves.

Brands Matter
A lot. Just as some cars retain their value better than others, so do some gadgets. If you're reading this, chances are you'll be itching to spring for the tippy-top-of-the-line gear. That can be a mistake. Always think of your target market when buying a new product. It may be the case that your potential customers won't share your affection for the latest Core i7 processor or your propensity for massive memory reserves. Here, it helps to pay close attention to company earnings calls to figure out what the most popular items are in a given quarter. Then use that info to make an informed choice. While it's possible that certain high-end or flagship models will be in great demand, people shopping the second-hand market are usually looking for bargains. Vestalife‘s new docks are designed by California design company, RKS. The Firefly and Jewelbox speaker systems aren’t your usual iPod docks. They both are touch sensitive and round-shaped. To reveal dock and speakers balls should be opened. These iPhone and iPod compatible docks has much to offer in a little package. They have built-in subwoofers, amplifiers and remote controls.

IPOD DOCK LIGHT

Sang-Hoon Lee designed this multifunctional unit, which could become great addition to every bedroom. It combines a bedroom light, iPod/iPhone dock and speaker. The speaker is hidden along the surface of the dock. The combination of functions is great not only for bedroom but for office or any other place where aren’t a lot of space but music and light are needed.

B&W ZEPPELIN IPOD SPEAKER

IDEA 2008 winner, Bowers & Wilkins’ Zeppelin designed by Native, is the unique, eye-grabbing designed dock for iPod. The dock has not only great design but also a lot of functions under the hood. A cradle supports all recent iPods (charging all but the 3rd-generation models). Zeppelin has a remote control, an auxiliary-input audio jack and composite/S-video output jacks for viewing video and photos from your iPod, on your TV.

IPOD DOCK DESIGNED BY PORSCHE

The Porsche Design P’9120 is a table top stereo system with iPod dock and radio. It has a clean, linear shaped design with superior acoustics and powerful subwoofer. It recharge any iPod and iPhone but haven’t any wi-fi connectivity so can’t be used as network player.

JEAN-MICHEL JARRE IPOD SPEAKERS

Electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre designed an odd looking iPod speakers which looks as 1980s as futuristic. It packs two 20W speakers and a 45W subwoofer and comes with an iPod inspired looking remote. It’s aimed at the top-end of the dock market, since it’s specifically designed to deliver high-quality audio: the circuitry in its integrated amp is apparently clever enough to add back some of the quality that’s missed by MP3 encoding.

ITAMTAM IPOD DOCK

iTam Tam looks nothing like other iPod docks. Designed by Eric Berthès from Branex Design, the dock looks like traditional tam tam stools. iTamTam is universal docking for all iPod models and iPhone and also its cord adapter allows any type of audio source including MP3 player from other brands. It has 2 x 25 W stereo and speaker with 50W digital amplifier technology and a remote control.

ART.SUONO WIRELESS MUSIC ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM

Designed by David Weiner Ventures, Art.Suono allows you to transmit any audio source, including an iPod, using an integrated dock connector, to any audio system. The Art.Suono also features “DWC-APHEX” circuitry which restores harmonics lost in compressed music, according to the developer. The result is improved spaciousness and clarity of sound and more resonant bass response.

IPOD AUDIO SYSTEM BY SONY

The Sony Muteki LBT-ZX66i is a 3-way Bass Reflex shelf-system/boom-box outfitted with four 6.7” hybrid mid-range/subwoofer units and dual 1” horn tweeters that output a total of 560w of power. Besides iPod Accessories it sports a 5-disc CD changer with Play Exchange and CD-R/CD-RW & MP3 playback and radio system. It’s blast from the past with every up-to-date feature.

LASONIC IPOD GHETTO BLASTER

Lasonic made some classic boomboxes during the 80s, and now they’ve updated their TRC-931 boombox with a built-in iPod dock, SD card reader and USB port. It comes in different colors and could work from 10 batteries.

VICTOR VETTERLEIN WIRELESS IPOD DOCK

American designer Victor Vetterlein decided that our iPod docks needed to have wireless speakers, speakers that could be detached from the dock and roam around apartments. Yo dock is designed for iPods and other MP3 players. The speakers are waterproof and have rechargeable batteries inside.

I24R3 EOPS IPOD WIRELESS SPEAKER SYSTEM

A collaboration between Michael Young and EOps, the i24R3 wireless speaker system works with satellite speakers and a bass dock. The set is made from pure white gloss and includes an aluminum casing. The system includes a wireless USB audio transmitter dongle that allows you to even stream music from your computer via iTunes. This allows you to control the system remotely via your computer from anywhere in the house. Naturally the dock can also be paired as an extra set of speakers for your computer.
